Review of the Apple iMac 24-inch (M3): Apple’s all-in-one success continues

November 11, 2023

In the world of all-in-one computers, there’s one brand that stands above the rest: Apple’s iMac. The iMac has long been the frontrunner in this category, but there was a period when it seemed as though Apple was coasting on its success, not updating its product regularly. That changed in 2021, when Apple launched the iMac 24-inch with a new M1 chip and an updated design. Two years later, Apple is finally introducing a new iMac 24-inch (M3) with its advanced M3 chip, but other than the new processor, not much has changed from the previous model.

While the new iMac 24-inch (M3) retains its vibrant color options and sleek design, there are some aspects that fall short, such as the continued use of Lightning cables for charging and the absence of larger screen options. However, the new M3 chip provides increased performance, making the iMac capable of handling intensive tasks such as video rendering and modern gaming.

Unfortunately, the price has gone up, starting at $1,399 / £1,399 / AU$2,199, and there is a noticeable lack of memory and storage in the base model. However, configurations are available for additional memory and SSD storage, albeit at a higher cost.

The new iMac 24-inch (M3) is only available in one size with a single M3 chip, priced at the higher end of the market. While it has its drawbacks, its performance capabilities combined with Apple’s signature design and vibrant color options make it a contender in the all-in-one computer market.
