New Species of Gazelles and Antelopes at Sharjah Safari

Sharjah Safari, the largest safari project outside Africa, has welcomed 61 new animals, including various African species of gazelles and antelopes. This move by the Environment and Protected Areas Authority in Sharjah (EPAA) aims to enhance the park’s biodiversity.

Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, chairperson of EPAA, stated that the introduction of these animals aligns with the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The goal is to preserve and protect the environment, conserve biodiversity, and work towards protecting endangered animals.

The new arrivals provide visitors with the opportunity to encounter more animals from the African continent while also serving as an educational experience for students of all ages. The third season of Sharjah Safari, which opened on September 21, includes several additions to the African bird and animal shows.

Sharjah Safari offers a real adventure in wetlands, ravines, valleys, small lakes, waterfalls, rocky mountains, and vast areas of African nature. It features rare and diverse African trees and shrubs. The park conducts breeding operations to increase the number of animals, particularly those that are rare and endangered. The animals receive advanced and regular medical care under the supervision of specialized veterinarians.

To ensure the safety of visitors and staff, the EPAA has implemented strict procedures. Visitors are prohibited from approaching or causing harm to the animals, as indicated by warning signs and informative brochures.
